Who can apply for counseling at the Mahut Center?

Jerusalem residents with children ages 13-18 are eligible for services from the Mahut Center. The Mahut Center serves a diverse community that represents a cross-section of the city of Jerusalem, including members of the Ultra-Orthodox, religious, and secular communities and new immigrants from around the world, as well as a wide variety of family structures: single-parent homes, blended families, adoptive parents, and more.

When should you apply?

- When the parents' experience at home in relation to the teenager is often accompanied by helplessness, a feeling of lack of communication and disrespect for parental authority, and is expressed in the loss of temper, aggression of the parents and/or the teenagers.

- When the adolescent has very persistent functional difficulties in more than one of the following areas:

  • Social difficulties: withdrawal, avoiding friends or wandering and increased dependence on friends.
  • Significant difficulties in studies that spill over into other functions.
  • Difficulties that describe or arise from poor body image or low self-image that impairs daily functioning.
  • Signs of addiction to alcohol, drugs or other substances.
  • Failure to accept parental authority and adult authority in general
